Was driving through the west side of Columbus OH on I 70 Friday. Have driven it many times and always looked to the south and saw several junkyards. This trip, I had some extra time and stopped to take a look. Found two places on McKinley Ave. One, called All Foreign, has lots of new foreign cars. Each car is on its own rack with racks stacked three high. No Vanagons there so I went next door. This place is called Edisons and is a pull-it-yourself place. I asked for the price of a fender for an '86 Scirocco and they said $20. My kind of place. Anyway, there is a bronze '85 Vanagon in there that hasn't been picked over too heavily. Writing on the side says "head gasket". Engine is there, it has an auto trans, seats are there, etc. The only thing I noticed was missing were the door handles. If anyone is interested, it is in the 1500 block of McKinley, which is easily accessible from I70. Sorry, I didn't get the phone number. Only other thing I saw of interest was a Quantum that had been wrecked. It has good 5-spoke aluminum wheels and the engine was still there. Tom '71 and '85 Westys Bloomington, IL |
