They look from the outside 100% identical to the DOT lights. Just below the main lamp (on the main reflector) is another small light holder that is for a park lamp or "city light" as some people call it.

The park lamp holder is optional, but you will be left with a hole that these holders are supposed to go into. They can be covered up with a piece of duct tape or something simular to keep the light watertight.

Yes, to use these lights you have to do a cut-and-splice. I have the H4 connectors here for $10 CAD per pair is case you are interested.

I will try to slip out this afternoon and take some shots of my 88 Syncro and 84 Westie with these lights installed and post them at http://www.fastforward.ca in the lights section. At this location there is already a photo of a light with the park light holder.
