You are definitely an optimist, your only real hope of pulling this off is to find one locally. Transportation costs will be high if it is not within a few miles of you.

Keep pushing. If you get an attorney he/she will probably get more out of the deal than you unless you were injured. Property settlements like this tend to be "fair market value," which means VW will probably end up settling by buying the van back from you at fair market value, but only if you fight for that. You shouldn't need a lawyer for this, he/she would just bug them the same way you are and charge by the hour for it. Why pay for that since you are already doing it yourself?

Anything more will take a lot more time and fighting, but that is up to you.
