And  then what?   I'm pretty  sure these  are not just  zillions of JPEG
files or something similar.  I'd assume the files on this CD are in some
proprietary format and thus  pretty much useless without the copyrighted
software the dealers are running on their PCs.  And even if the CD would
contain   only files in  standardized  formats,  you'd  probably have no
chance of finding what  you're looking for,  due  to the huge amount  of
unstructured data  on the  CD (what  would  you expect   to see in  file
"F0000001.JPG" or in file "F0235956.JPG"?).

And just for the record, the VW dealers don't run their software on Unix
boxes as someone suggested but on normal PCs with Microsoft's Windows.
