     has your 16" got the light on the dashboard for the ABS.......
     mine might not have ABS.......only the light!!!!!.....when did
     they start fitting ABS to the caravelles then

The 16" Syncros never came  with ABS.  And with  the 14" ... if you want
to shut the ABS off off road, just install a switch in line with the ABS
fuse.  But then   never forget to enable  ABS  again when  on the  road.
Maybe, rather than just a switch you should install a self holding relay
which is deactivated  with the  ignition  off and  which when  activated
disables the ABS circuit ... just a thought.
