Folks-

All joking a haranguing aside, I am VERY interested in the issues of highway safety, and the environment. Further, I am very interested in the idea of seeing a better way to haul freight across the USA rather than having it whiz 24 inches from my ear. I think getting freight back on the rails is the key, but what do I know?

It appears the earlier discussion about trucks, the interstate, and such has touched a nerve in a few of us, and I am interested in a deeper/broader discussion with all sides contributing. Is there enough interest (at least in our group) for me to start a one-list mail list?

I checked to see if there is a current discussion of interstates and found only this: TNreststops - Similar lists If you want to meet men, women, or couples for some discreet sexual fun, then sign up for this.. You must live in Tennessee and will be wanting to meet at local rest areas along Interstates 40, 24, 65, and 75. No one under the age of 18 is allowed to post anything. All are welcome who are over 18.

...not exactly what I am looking for.

Any unexpressed thoughts about the benefits/disadvantages of rails, and trucks, the disgusting results of auto/truck accidents, the unfathomable weight of tire shards that trucks are 'allowed' to discard on the highway without penalty, how low un-employment has put jack-legged-burger-flipping-zit-faced youngsters behind the wheel of big rigs, why we should be concerned about truckloads of hot tar, or truckloads of nitric acid rolling down the highway at 70+ mph. Etc.

Should I start a list?
