When my hoses got to about 170K, I got a bit worried, too. Checked the prices and too Bobby McFerrin's advice. Now have close to 350K and I still don't worry and I still am happy.

Actually, I've had several hoses go over the years, but they've all been the smaller ones till this spring, when one of the big preformed ones lost an end. It is now 1/2 inch shorter and is till happy.
