Greetings Volks.

You know the problem.  You may even have it right now. One of your burners
on your beloved Westy stove produces a tall yellow flame instead of the nice
blue flower that it should be.

Well fear not. Because of the wonderful collective of this list, a simple
solution is just a PRINT command away.

Thank you to all the friendly people who made suggestions for such a simple
fix.  Your words were greatly appreciated.

HOW TO GET RID OF THE TALL FLAME ON THE WESTY STOVE:

(This is based on my 87 Westy so your results may vary slightly.)

Remove the wire grill by giving it a simple upward and outward tug near
where it contacts with the stainless steel top of the stove.  Don't worry,
it's only held in place by tension.

Select the offending burner and twist the round top until you can lift it
straight up. The round top is just held in place by some simple metal tabs,
if you twist the top so the tabs line up with two release spots, the top
lifts right up.

Using a flash-light peer down inside the center of the burner and look for
anything obstructing the flow of air or gas. Spiders love to build condos in
there, a small metal flake or even a match head or spilled food can clog the
line enough to keep the flame from being strong and blue.

Using some poking device do your best to clean out the tube. Get as deep as
you possibly can. Get well past the first right angle bend in the pipe. Some
listers suggested using a pipe cleaner. Personally I used a long plastic zip
tie. What ever you use, get it in the tube as far as you can and just FLOSS
the heck out of it. Blow any "stuff" you knock free, up and out of the tube.

Replace you burner top, and test your new blue flame.  If for some reason it
did not work, give it one more try.  This solution has worked for me and
many other listers.  It should make you a happy camper as well.
