Hi,
Don't know if that's quite true, since we all have friends who come over and
spend countless hours helping us scratch our heads in despair over our four
wheeled "best friends" latest acts of petulance. And I'm sure a good
percentage of those friends are so impressed that they want to have
headaches of their very own!
Seriously, If I had a van to sell, this is the first place I would mention
it, since most listmembers do know others who actually are impressed with
our examples of DM engineering. Some of us could possibly want to upgrade
to a synchro or a Westy from a 7 pass. I'd be willing to bet that a half
dozen vans have changed hands within this list in the last year.
In addition to all of the posts about how to fix things, where to spend the
summer, and gritching about how poorly VW designed the waterboxer, I welcome
all the posts that tell me a van is available, or those posts which may
save me a buck on parts (Bus Depot, VanAgain, etc.). Some groups ban
advertising; I feel that this would be a terrible loss to our collective
database of information.
Tristan, I apologize for leveling both barrels at you, but I'd seen you ad
a few times too many before you complained about our manners. That was the
straw that broke this camel's back. While your price may not have been (or
be) unreasonable, it was (is) not a bargain which needed to be shouted at
all of us on a daily basis. After a week or so, I at least, started to
resent your posts, and I have to admit that if I knew someone who was
looking for a van, I would not have mentioned yours. This is nothing
personal, just how I respond to perceived pressure (I also don't buy things
advertised in a loud and continuous manner on TV or radio). I value all of
the netfriends I have met in this group, and would like to consider you as
one, too. If you'd like to carry this on, please drop me a p-mail.
