Last weekend, my Westy got an engine transplant. I (with much assistance from Mark Drillock) installed a used 1.6lTD from a 1984 Jetta. I have a leak in the injector pump at the junction between the pump body and the fuel distribution block at the rear of the pump. I cannot find a manual that shows an exploded view of a VE pump. There appears to be some type of gasket in this seam. I have tested all the bolts at the rear of the pump and they are tight. Can someone tell me if there is actually a gasket in there? If I can actually find one, what are the consequences of removing the fuel distribution block from the pump? I don't want to buy a pump, but I don't want to destroy this one in an amateur attempt to repair it. Has anyone else done this? Mike Snow 1982 Westfalia 1.6TD |
