To lower exhaust temp (and engine heat load in general): 1/ Intercooler: An Audi 5000T unit fits well in the driver side rear air intake. Only tricky part is to get the right S-hose for the tight routing. Self made one are no good as I experienced! Can easily lower exhaust temps 100F or more! 2/ Free flowing exhaust. And better breathing in general. Even 2.5" "performance" and "turbo" mufflers make a difference on temps compared to straight pipe when I tested. /Martin -- Westy 1.9l Turbo Diesel Quantum 1.6l Turbo Diesel New and used parts for sale, gas and Diesel: http://www.cs.yale.edu/~jag/vw/forsale.html Martin Jagersand email: jagersand@cs.jhu.edu Vision & Robotics lab, CS Dept jag@cs.yale.edu Johns Hopkins University WWW: www.cs.jhu.edu/~jager Slow down and visit the VW diesel Westy page: WWW: http://www.cs.rochester.edu/u/jag/vw ------------------------------------------------------------------- |
