Can some of you 87 owners or shoppers help me. I am trying to determine the value of a 87 westfalia syncro. Mileage is 140k. It is called a caravelle syncro FWIW, but is a westy with a 2.2 and 5 speed. Instead of having a middle bench seat like my 84 westy, it has a single rear-facing seat directly behind the passenger seat. The body/undercarriage is completely rustfree with very few imperfections. Owned by current owner since 89. I haven't driven it, but the owner says it loses power at operating speed occasionally(the dreaded power loss?). He thinks it's the plug wires-says he has seen "sparks on the motor"(!) before. Any help would be appreciated-I'm cautious as I have heard the syncro parts come with a Rolls-Royce pricetag. This vanagon looks fantastic-rims, large mud tires, cb, phone, alpine, genuine vw filters... Thanks and sorry to bore some of you. Jay |
