Does someone have a picture of an Iltis? Is it a Vanagon/truck body or a rabbit body? Might be interested in one of these...

Seeing how the cold war is now over NATO is getting rid of a lot of their
vehicles that have lead really pampered lives.
I have been working with a company to get some Volkswagen Iltis and some
Caravelles (Vanagons) over to Canada that were former Germany Army vehicles.
Landed price of the Iltis ready to drive away in Vancouver will be aprox
$13,500 CAD assuming that the tires on it are DOT spec. Each Iltis are
1980 models with a 1.7L gasoline engine (same as Rabbit), 4WD pre-quattro
drive train, canvas canopy and white, olive drab or cammo paint. Average
odometer is 30,000 km and the bodys and tops are in excellent condition
with no rust as they spent their time mostly in a heater bomb shelter.
Spare parts are obtainable thru select VW dealers in Canada as the Canadian
Military uses the Bombaridier Iltis which is essentually a Volkswagen with
a few refinements such as the wiring and some of dash components. Most
parts are either Audi Fox, Beetle and Rabbit (in order of most to least).
Vanagons will vary a lot more in condition and pricing. They will all be
pre 86 models as importing a car newer than 15 years old into Canada is a
*lot* more complicated. So, this rules out a lot of the "cool" stuff like
Syncros for a few more years. Some Double Cabs and lot of 7 Passangers are
available in both Diesel and gas models.
I am going to be focusing on the Iltis more than the Vanagon for the first
containers, but this doesn't rule out Vanagons, if you are interested, even
semi-interested, please p-mail me.
