I have no idea on how easy one would be to import to the USA. There are
Canadian made Iltis down there so I would have to say it is possible.

More of an Audi Fox Chassis on steriods. Same motor mounts, exhaust
manifold etc, the transmission is 1970s Audi 100 that is modified for
driving the rear wheels.

According to the people who I have spoken with yes, but then they drive
these for a living!

Don't know how much power the TDs have and if the gearing is different. TD
ones are almost twice as expensive.

Bare, bare and more bare. One gauge, a Beetle speedometer with a gas
gauge. Remember they are an Army vechicle!

The parts guys I have been talking to are saying that 90% of the mechanical
parts are Fox and Rabbit. The remainder are available as they are still
being used by the Canadian Armed Forces today and they order their parts
from VW.
