UPDATE!!!

Thank you, all who responded. What he wanted has been located by his (formerly my) local VW repair shop. Since the new odometer will get installed as is with whatever mileage it has, I am urging him to save the original odometer, and have the repair shop put in writing on the bill the odometer readings of both with the date of the change. I've been off the Vanagon list since April, but a friend with an 1989 Vanagon GL has asked me about finding some used parts. If you can help, please email me personally, since I will not be getting the Vanagon List messages. (I'm over at the Eurovan list.)

He is looking for an 1989 Vanagon GL dashboard cluster housing and RPM unit and speedometer unit.

Thank you for any assistance. Jim McCarthy
