Yes I think they are stupid. They don't support maintenance on the Vanagons at all by stocking most commonly used parts. They don't even carry the gas or air filters... I have to order them! Give me a break!I would never consider buying a new car from them!

I like to avoid dealing with the VW dealers whenever possible. Because of past history, I haven't tried 'em yet. I'll go to another dealer if need be. All the VW dealers in my area have terrible parts inventories.

First, this is one stupid dealer! If you can go to another instead, do so! If not, you just need to convince them that the dash lights in the Vanagon is NOT a Vanagon part only, all other 80's VWs uses the same small bulbs. The special thing about them is that they are bulb and socket in one unit, but they're the same in Jetta's, Quantum's etc.
