Subject: roof pictures on the web

I mailed out a few, but then the flood of requests came.

So here they are on the web:

http://makarov.com/vw/roofpics.zip

I didn't have space on my regular site and they're not going to be there long enough for me to put a link on my site. Grab 'em...they're gone in a week.

As far as putting the roof on, see my regular site. I've got pics of the process. The condensed version is that I cut sheet metal between the structural beams, the reinforced them with an angle bracket from beam to beam on each side (Chris Turner's idea...he helped me put it all in too. Shameless plug: buy his poptop if you want to do this. <jordanvw@aol.com>).

Hinges require backing plate drilled and tapped...no room for nuts back there. Poptop legs mount on angle iron.

Finished off with luggage rack seal from TBD including tucking the headliner in.

I haven't made a bed yet, but I'm working on it. It'll be raised, so I may have to take the cushions down to close the top. In the mean time I throw my junk up there. :-)

More detailed questions? P-mail me.

-Karl
