Subject: Not Shippable?

Hello,

The note on a Vanagon seat not being shippable encouraged me to post that there is a surprising (to me) low cost shipping alternative that we can use for things like that. Inexpensive air freight can be used if there are direct flights between the shipper and the shippee. The airlines offer quite reasonable rates on a "space available" basis for funny shaped things and the treatment of the freight is generally better than with a cartage firm.

I shipped a Eurovan seat between Phoenix and Milwaukee for $30 on Midwest Express Airlines. I had to drop it off at the airport and the recipient had to pick it up. I think that the "space available" increases in priority after a couple of days, but my shipment was at its destination about 6 hours after I dropped it off.
