Subject: Anyone ever take a car from Europe to North Americia?
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

I am looking for someone who has experience or knowledge in getting a personal vehicle from Europe (Germany in particular) to North Americia (Canada in particular). What I am most interested in is who do you contact to arrange shipment and when the vehicle is in Canada, is there anything that prevents someone from selling that vehicle once they are in Canada?

The reason why I am asking is that I am thinking of importing a VW Iltis from Germany, a friend of mine in Germany want to visit me and he want to see most of Canada. The plan is for him to by the Iltis and get it shipped to Halifax, Nova Scotia and then drive across Canada to Quesnel, British Columbia and sell it to me once he arrives. I already know what I have to do to import one and make it road legal (yellow and red reflectors front and rear possibly replace the tires if they are not DOT approved and pay 3.9% duty plus 7% federal tax) but I am wondering if there are any strings attached if he takes it to Canada as his personal vechicle.

Thanks in advance!
