Down side risk. Broke down in NOVWMECHANICLAND and lose 2 to 4 days at least of your vacation sittin' in a notellmotel and pay whatever to get a poor job done that might get you back home where you can do it all again.

If you pay the price to get it done before you go, not only the vacation will work out mo betta, but the next interval to failure will be a long ways in the future. And if you bypass Reno on the way, you can better afford the fix.
