It is more than likely they will give you the $40 back. At least they will at the one I work. Also, it isn't always that easy to get the sale price on something that ins't on sale. It depends on a few things, how many we sold when it was onsale, how many were ordering during the sale (quite often CTC buys stuff at a sale price from their suppliers!), and if it is a '99/no raincheck' item.
