I have no idea on how easy one would be to import to the USA. There are Canadian made Iltis down there so I would have to say it is possible.

More of an Audi Fox Chassis on steriods. Same motor mounts, exhaust manifold etc, the transmission is 1970s Audi 100 that is modified for driving the rear wheels.

>3) Do they handle pretty well?

According to the people who I have spoken with yes, but then they drive these for a living!

>4) Do the TD ones have decent pick-up or are they geared to pull stumps?

Don't know how much power the TDs have and if the gearing is different. TD ones are almost twice as expensive.

>5) What's the interior/dash like?

Bare, bare and more bare. One gauge, a Beetle speedometer with a gas gauge. Remember they are an Army vechicle!

The parts guys I have been talking to are saying that 90% of the mechanical parts are Fox and Rabbit. The remainder are available as they are still being used by the Canadian Armed Forces today and they order their parts from VW. > >G.
