Subject: 85 Westy cooling system
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Does anyone of you have any idea about what is going on? Here is my problem:

It all started last june. Symptoms: thermometer got high (8/10th of dial) in a trafic jam (never happened before). Needle never came back to normal.. After a long stretch of highway (more than 200 km) engine did overheat when we slowed down. Gas Bubbles in the filling tank.

Done: changed thermostat, fan switch, expansion tank cap and finaly two head gaskets (yes it happened to me too). It never realy solved the problem wich slowly reappeared every time after 300 or 400 km).

Now: one of the new head gasket blew a few weeks after its installation. My mechanic installed an other one for free. But... there are still bubbles in the filling tank when the engine is warm and pressure still seems to build up in the cooling system...Small leak in the area of the water pump. Help! where do we look from now on? This thing is getting on my nerves and is very bad for our couple. :-(
