There's fuel in the tank.  When you turn the key over a notch, the fuel pump
gives a short burst (to prime the system?).  When my wife turned the key all
the way over and started cranking, the fuel pump ran fine and the engine
started.  After idling for a minute or so, the engine quit.  I had my hand
on the fuel pump the whole time.  It ran the whole time, until the engine
quit.

I'm thinking the fuel pump is fine - what next?
