Subject:      83 aircooled vanagon

My 83 aircooled vanagon is still not running. It will crank but not start. We
tried all the suggestions posted so far. You can not hear the fuel pump with
the key turned on but my husband ran a direct line to and from the coil and
the pump worked fine. He says I need a new ECU. I love him but this is the
only VW he has ever worked on and I really want to be told he is wrong! Are
there any other suggestions before I put the money out.
