Subject: Westy Bummer on I-40

Bad News, not for me, but for one of our Westy Compadres... a 1984-1986ish Westy took a giant leap toward the crusher this afternoon here in RTP, NC. It didn't appear that anyone was hurt, (no ambulances, and relatively minor crash damage). We got to the scene pretty late after the wreck, around 2:00 this p.m.

It was a chocolate brown Westy in PRIMO condition. Front left footwell/wheel pushed back, and the left side (across the camping outlets/water fill) was pretty well can-openered. Looked like it *could* be repaired, if money were no object.

Looked like the upper & lower A-arms were broken/bent, as the tire (flat) was pinched against the rear of the wheel well. Can't figure out what he hit, since all of the damage was in two distinct levels...One, at door handle height, went down the side of the van. The other, was at about 10-15" off the road, almost like he sideswiped the rear end of a tractor/trailor that was fitted with an 'anti-drive-under" safety bar. No other vehicles were on the scene (except Johnny Law).

Anybody we know? God Bless ya/them. T'was a beauty,
