Running out in to the freezing rain... the part number on my 16" wheels are 251 601 027A - this is a delivered in Canada Syncro with dealer installed 16" wheels. The original tires that were installed were Continental P225/60-97H Currently there is Bridgestone Wintertrax on there at P225/60-97H. I asked the dealer about this and it is the load rating that is important. You need at lead 95H to be safe. One things that the Conti had over the bridgestone was the three ply side wall... its a little squishy on the corners, but nothing serious. On the plus side, the Wintertrax were expectionally well and have decent off road and snow road traction. FYI BF-Goodrich makes a LT225/70 16" in their All-Terain Series. Dunlop is another company.

I am getting a set of 6.5R16s from a Volkswagen Iltis for my Syncro - these are 10 ply military tires with some mega grip and directional tread - needless to say they are going to be my fun set of tires and not my daily drivers.

Per was mentioning that the Audi A8 has 5x112mm 16" rims with an offset of ET42. The 16" Vanagon tires have an offset of ET35 and are only 5.5" wide - this are going to be used as with my Iltis tires and I will get some A8s for my 225/60s...
