Allison,
First off, I am glad to see that you are still with us and that you are
doing fine - accidents are very serious things. Although I have never been
involved in a serious accident, I would be tryly heart broken (but
greatfull) if one of my VWs sacrificed it's life and soul to save mine.
I am impressed with how strong VWs are and how many people "walk away" from
some pretty serious accidets. In my yard is a 1991 VW Golf, it used to
belong to a drug dealer until they were followed by the RCMP (Police) and
paniced. The result was the Golf leaving the road at over 150km/h and
rolling twice down a very steep hill and stopping on the roof. Every
window except for the driver rear was broken, the engine's motor mounts
were all sheered off except for one, the front suspension was trashed, the
rad was in several pieces - basically there wasn't a straight piece of
metal left in the car. The driver survived the accident with a few cuts
and scapes and is now serving time (yah!) and yes, he was wearing is seat
belt. The entire passenger secion of the car is fine - if there were four
people in the car, I'm sure they would have been OK. It's some great
engineering that goes into these cars!
