Hi there, This is my first time on the list in quite a while. I have recently purchased an 85 westy multi-van that is in need of intense engine repair or replacement. The van has the original 1.9 which currently; leaks h20 and oil, has very little power, and smokes when I turn it off. My question, and reason for writing the list, is for your advice. I have already received solid input from Ken at vanagain.com. I would now like to get feedback from the list. What would you do if you were in my dilema, other than a good mental evaluation. I value the collective knowledge of the list, and appreciate help in the past with my 83 vanagon. Should I : repair , rebuild , or replace? And in each circumstance, which steps and manufacturers would you trust? I realize this is asking a great deal, but I would really appreciate the skilled advice of the list. Thank you for your time, Rex Hargrove 85 westy multi-van(cough) 85 weekender 83 transporter |
