My 89 syncro westy (175 K miles) has developed a whine/rumble/vibration in
3rd and 4th gears and I have been advised that this a fairly common failure,
requiring a transmission rebuild.


I searched the archives and came up with some shops and was wondering what
the collective wisdom was regarding these shops, the quality of their work,
workmanship, parts used, cost etc. Are there other options?
