There are three available that I know of (and carry on my website): The official VW service manual ("Bentley" manual), and the British produced Haynes and Pocket Mechanic manuals. The former is more expensive and very complete but quite technical in nature; both of the latter ones are a bit more "backyard-mechanic friendly" and are much less expensive, if not as complete (no camper interior or syncro coverage, for example). Best bet is to have both the Bentley for its comprehensiveness, plus at least one of the other two to use as sort of a "cliffs notes" to the Bentley. Unfortunately, John Muir never did put out an idiot guide for the watercooled van.,
