Subject: Re: 90 Carat 50 amp fuse for A/C: Substitution Possiblities:

Volks, Thanks to all who offered suggestions of my A/C out: Based upon Listee input here is my solution: 1) Purchased: a) 50 amp blade or spade style fuse b) 10 guage wire c) 10 guage spade connectors that matched the spade size of the 50 amp fuse d) 10 guage ring connector to fit terminal where wafer fuse attached. All this purchased at Autozone (FLAPS). 2) Cleaned all wires and connectors with Dremel wire wheel, applied dielectric grease to all surfaces. 3) Made up new fuse rig w/crimp on connectors mentioned above, ring connectors to terminals where old "wafer" style fuse went, spade ends to 50 amp "maxi" fuse from FLAPS.

Hooked all up and A/C is again throwing ice cubes, and wires are cool to touch. Now if a fuse goes again, I can pick one up at any FLAPS.

One problem however. Temp dropping down near freezing tonight! (read need heater not A/C!). These little cold snaps never last long down here on Texas Gulf Coast however. We'll be cutting grass again next week I'm sure.
