Subject: Axius Sunshade for Vanagons/Westies
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Happy Thanksgiving Weekend!

I wanted to report on an inexpensive and useful accessory that has worked really well for me. It's the Axius 'Magic Shade' Sunshade (JUMBO size), selling for between $6-$11 at various outlets such as Kmart, Target, Ace, True Value etc.

The sunshade actually consists of two almost square collapsible fabric sunshades (2 separate panels) which are each framed by that twisty metal rim that allows them to spring open and then fold down to about 1/8th their size instantly (easy to keep in the space behind the drivers seat). The JUMBO size fits the Vanagon front windshield almost perfectly. One side is a metallic silver fabric, and you can chose either grey, blue, or teal for the other.

The best part about these shades is that they are hassle-free and can be installed in 30 seconds (MUCH faster than snapping the front curtain for example). I park and eat by the beach a lot, so I'm using them often for additional privacy and/or sun blocking. Sometimes I will use just one of the panels if I am in the van and just want to block glare, but keep part of the view. And of course, they dramatically cut down on heat build-up inside the van.

They are also small enough to be used to block, say a passenger side window, and I'm going to experiment with hanging one on the left side of the van (I know, not over the flue vent!) to see if it cuts down the heat enough to allow the fridge fan to run less.

You can call Axius at (1-888-992-9487) or check out their website at http://www.axius.com.
