it sounds like you used the old heads they may be cracked as Ken said
but try running the engine and letting it warm up
the stray coolant could be what your seeing
next pressure test the cooling system the green oring does not stop the
coolant from entering the cumbustion chamber the top gasket does that
the coolant test is on my web page
