Subject: re- Repairing Clutch's Slave Cylinder

You are correct....The clutch and brakes share the same supply. The brakes wont be affected so long as the fluid remains above the min. mark on the side of the tank. Unfortunately the fluid will drain quickly if you pump the clutch peddal. Top up with fluid and have someone press the peddal ( slowly!!.... ideally while you are wearing safety specs) while you are looking at the slave cylinder and try and work out where the fluid is comming from. It could be the hydraulic pipe joint on the top side of the cylinder or it could be the cylinder itself. If it's the metal pipe then have one made up at an auto shop as VW don't do them anymore.

>>>It appears that I have a leak in my clutch's hydraulic line. My clutch pedal lost its resistance and went all the way to the floor, and engaging into gear was very difficult (multi-pumping of the clutch pedal to build up the pressure).
