On my 90 GL with 205/70s the VW rec. pressures on the sticker are 30 front and 40 rear - the original equipment tires were MXLs, I now have the MXTs (much better tire IMHO). I run them at 35 and 45 because at 30 the steering is too heavy, and they seem to wear better. Don't know if the syncro would be different though.
