I have seen DC to AC power converters that plug into the cigarette lighter socket at Wal-Mart. They are available at many other places too. This would work fine for a couple of strands of lights. The prices I saw for a unit with one AC plug in was about $25-$30. I think that they also come with more than one AC plug in and a higher price.
