To Malcolm on 12VDC heaters and a little fizzix and lectrical stuff. A moderate heater will give 1000W of power off in infrared (heat). 12V x 100A is 1200W. So for a 1200W heater to be on for one hour is 100AH of 12VDC. This is perhaps a bit out of range for the average battery. Better to use propane, higher energy density. Electricity is a poor heat source at 12VDC for any period of time suitable to heat the interior of your van. Campfire coffee to me has always been "boiled". When it'll float a colt it's ready. I like turkish/greek style, coffee that is, But a real highpressure moka device is very nice. Winter camping in the westie is loverly. I use a propane Coleman catalytic (Model 2600) to warm up in the morning by running it for ten minutes or so. Portable, "safe", draws no DC, and of course coleman green. Often had for ~20-30USD at swaps, gar(b)age sales and so on. Had mine for ten years or so, works dandy. al |
