To fix the problem you need to replace the fan switch (or repair it -- but if you could repair it you wouldn't be asking the question). If you get a used one, I recommend getting one from a *rear* blower (same switch) b/c most of the front ones have or are about to have your same problem. The heater-control faceplate has to come off to remove the switch. Plastic lugs at bottom-left and top-right that stick into spring-loaded holes in the dash. Control handles pull off the levers first -- probably should warm them up; and be careful not to catch the handle on the faceplate as it comes out. To keep it from happening again, add a separate circuit to power the high-speed position on the fan, and use the high-speed wire from the switch to drive the relay.
