Pretty off-topic, but one MORE reason not to use AOL and get a "real" ISP... :-) Brent Christensen '89 GL Syncro Westy "Klaus" Santa Barbara, CA -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM]On Behalf Of Robert Lilley Sent: Monday, December 06, 1999 7:19 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: Pop-Up storm coming Wednesday: Warning to AOL members
Warning to AOL members... I just heard on the Clark Howard radio show that AOL is getting ready to unleash a "pop up banner" storm starting on Wednesday. They will ignore any previous setting and plan to send you pop up adds galore unless: Go to: keyword: Marketing Preferences Pop Ups and select "no" then "OK" AOL's note: "You may continue to receive some pop-up offers while we process your request. Your preference will only apply for the screen name with which you are currently signed on to AOL. It will apply for one year from the date AOL receives it. Near the end of this period, AOL will notify you that your preference is about to expire. If, at this time, you decide you DO wish to receive special pop-up offers, simply do nothing. If you decide that you do not want to receive these offers, you may return to this area to renew your preference. If you cancel your membership, your request will continue to apply for one year from the date we received it. If you reactivate your AOL account using the same screen name for which the preference applied and the same account number, your preference will still be in effect for one year from the date the request was first received. Please note that from time to time, AOL may still need to contact you via pop-up to inform you about the AOL service, such as new billing options. These buttons do not reflect any previous selections." |
