I still have a few of those "bulletproof" Genuine Volksewagen trailer hitches that were mentioned on these pages a few months ago. These are _extremely_ heavy duty hitches that are designed specifically for your Vanagon and sold by VW dealers in South Africa. They bolt right into the frame of your Vanagon, using existing bolt holes, and come with a 2" ball (which is not easily swapped for other sizes since the ball mount is of European rather than US spec, although some list members have had receiver-hitch mounts custom-welded to theirs for about $75). Price is $179.95 plus shipping. I'm have about 8 left, after which I expect them to be unavailable for up to several months due to supply problems in South Africa.
