Hi James, Permatex 3h aviation sealer will work well for this application. It has been used for years for the case split seam and head nuts on the air cooled engines. In a pinch I have used it on wasser boxers with no problems. The yellow stuff seems to remain softer and more flexible over time and many heat cycles. Most any flaps will have 3h. It comes in a small can with a brush for application. Good luck with your quest.
