Subject: CHEAP Silicate/Phosphate free anti-freeze
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

This is a followup to my earlier post. I was overlooking the math comparing the price of undiluted Prestone ($7.50) to diluted Havoline (for which an equivalent amount would require buying TWO bottles for a total of $10).

The main question is still whether the list would recommend Havoline. Anyone??

========================================= A local store is selling pre-diluted 50-50 antifreeze by Texaco called Havoline. It is phosphate/silicate free and uses carboxylate as its inhibitor. It is glycol-based. Cost for prediluted gallon is $5. Same store had Prestone for $7.50. The jug claims the product is good for 150,000 miles or 5 years, whichever comes first.

Question: Does this sound too good to be true?

Question: What do ya'll think of using HAVOLINE in a 84 Vanagon?
