John, Sorry first, but your out there a ways.... No car, (I must repeat this) "NO car" in recent history has been "all new" or in your words "designed from ground up". Even GM stated, several years back, the cost (and risks) are just to much. Only a total economic chance would a ground up design, ever appear again.

------------------------------- How about the fairly recent British-designed Sinclair 3-wheeler that featured the driver in a reclining position. Not a commercial success (it was closed out in the Damark catalog) but it was a fresh design from the ground up. That is unless you count the wheel as an existing design.
