I find that most of that noise comes from the heat deflector/drain pan that sits above the stove. I can get rid of most of the noise by using a small towel in between the stove and the deflector. (doesn't always work, though)

Of course, you may want to review all the junk you have accumulated in your kitchen drawer... :-) (I recently discovered a 1/2 eaten packet of peanut butter crackers that I must have used last summer to appease our now three year old ...)
