Subject: Winter Camping-kitchen vibration- 70s westy for sale sighting

List:

Camped out in 18 degree F weather this past weekend. Was in on the south shore of Lake Superior Near the Apostle Islands on the Bayfield Penninsula. Not enough snow to cross country ski but the lake, woods and hills were beautiful this time of year. Plan on heading up the north shore of the lake to the Canadian border this next weekend.

Years ago I did this alot with the coldest being about -10 degrees. This time used a kerosene heater (with windows open) to take the chill off in the morning while engine and gas heater got going. Don't especially like the smell that kerosene heaters have when shutting down but love the heat. Carry lots of food and water, generally in the fridge so it will not freeze.

Forgot to put the dish washing cloths between the stove grill and stainless what-cha-macall-it when closing the cover. Got the noisy jangling and a few miles down the road pulled over and re-arranged things to eliminate the noise. Has been a habit to put something to stop vibration in that area since the vehicle was new.

Saw a westy for sale in Washburn, Wisconsin. Had the top which opens towards the back. Peeked into the engine compartment and say a pancake with twin carbs. Had an Illinois air base sticker on it (old and barely legible). Tried to call the place today to find out any particulars but got a recording. Will try again. The place is called "Auto Service Center" and phone on door says 715-373-5460. The van looked to be in fair condition with little rust and one taped over rip in the back seat. This is a town of about 2,000 in extreme Northern Wisconsin.

Thanks for all the advice and help over the years on this list and type2.com.
