Well Matthew, you compelled me to reply. Anyone who is considering low end torque needs to thinks Diesel, either TD or TDI. David Marshall's homepage at http://www.volkswagen.org has a table with engine specs under engine conversions. Note that the TDI develops full torque at 1900rpms. The disadvantage of the Diesel is that it does not go as high in rpms as other gasoline engines. I will change the rubber gearing to accommodate that and I am looking for 15" steel rims. In addition I will just take it easy and save about Can$700 per year in fuel cost alone.
