Our '85 Westy 1.9L 100,000 Km has trouble coming off idle. Stalls are inevitable, requiring revving to 2500-3000 rpm for takeoffs, 'specially on uphill starts. Trouble vanishes when temp sensor is disconnected. So, leave it disconnected you say. Ah, but it won't start while sensor is disconnected. Local VW mechanic replaced AFM; no change. Next, he bypassed idle stabilizer. Now it comes off idle okay, but idle is rough. If I don't get some inspiration, or great advice from the list, I will devise a relay on a 10 second delay to disconnect the temp sensor. Any thoughts? |
