Jim- The waste tank removes cleanly, and carries like a suitcase. It has a fold out rigid tube that allows for easy, mess-free dumping in an ordinary commode, anywhere. Simply dump and flush the commode. Swish clean water around the inside, dump again. Add some of the Thetford enzyme, add a quart of water, and you are done. Being a consummate cheapskate, I have tried other toilette "chemicals", from the blue stuff, to 'deodorizer', to common bleach. Don't waste your time or money. The low-toxicity Thetford stuff (enzymatic, rather than formaldehyde) is head-and-shoulders above anything else. Cheers, G. Been trying to get my wife to let a Thetford into the van for 10 years....this thread has her leaning. One question: Where are safe places to, uh, recycle the tank? Can you dump it in an outhouse in the middle of Nevada say, or do you have to wait for a KOA and work out a special dumping deal with them? -- Jim Hayes '71 van (as of today) 86 Westy (formerly) '66 Westy Pixelography: The marriage of silicon and silver.
