The person from whom I bought my '85 mounted 4x10 speakers in the compartment wall under the rear seats on either side of the rear heater. They take away from storage space but sound good. Joe T. '85 GL 'bessie'

I had a similar problem in my '82 Westy. The rears are blow, only 1 front worked, and all the speaker holes were just too small for a 1/2 way decent sounding speaker. The solution came with the addition of a pair of enclosed alluminum cabinet speakers from radio-shack. They are not the best speaker in the world, but at $70 a pair on sale they were not too expensive. I now lay them behind the front seats pointing up. There is enough cord to put them on the roof if needed, and they are heavy enough to stay put in all but the most extream road conditions. They could use some more bass, but for the kind of listening I do, they work well enough.
